1. Commitment to Child Safety
Youth Connect is dedicated to providing a safe, empowering, and positive environment for young people. We have a zero-tolerance policy towards any form of child abuse, exploitation, or harassment. This policy outlines our standards and the measures we take to protect our community members, particularly minors.
2. Prohibited Content and Standards
Youth Connect explicitly prohibits the creation, sharing, or promotion of Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation (CSAE) content. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM): Any visual depiction of non-consensual sexual conduct involving a minor.
- Grooming: Actions aimed at establishing an emotional connection with a minor to lower their inhibitions for the purpose of sexual abuse or exploitation.
- Sexualization of Minors: Content that inappropriately sexualizes children or encourages harmful behavior towards minors.
- Endangerment: Any activity that threatens the physical, emotional, or psychological safety of a minor.
3. In-App Mechanism for User Reporting
We provide robust, easily accessible mechanisms within the Youth Connect app for users to report safety concerns, suspicious behavior, or prohibited content:
- Report Post: Every post in the social feed includes a "Report" option.
- Report User: Users can report profiles directly from the "User Profile" or "Chat Info" screens.
- Feedback Mechanism: A dedicated "Support & Feedback" section is available in the app settings for general safety concerns.
All reports are treated with the highest priority and are reviewed by our dedicated safety team.
4. Addressing CSAM and CSAE
Youth Connect takes immediate and appropriate action upon obtaining actual knowledge of Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) or any CSAE content. Our enforcement process includes:
- Immediate Removal: Prohibited content is permanently removed from our platform upon discovery or confirmation of a report.
- Account Suspension: Users found to be creating or distributing CSAM/CSAE will have their accounts permanently terminated.
- Platform Bans: We use device identifiers and IP logging to prevent bad actors from re-joining the platform.
5. Compliance with Child Safety Laws
Youth Connect complies with all applicable child safety laws and regulations. We maintain a rigorous process to report confirmed instances of CSAM to the appropriate authorities, including:
- The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) in the United States.
- Relevant regional law enforcement agencies in Kenya and other jurisdictions where we operate.
6. Child Safety Point of Contact
We have designated a specific point of contact to receive and act upon notifications regarding child safety and potential CSAE content. Our representative is authorized to speak to our enforcement procedures and take immediate action.
Designated Child Safety Contact:
- Email: safety@youthconnect.official
- Department: Trust & Safety Enforcement Team
7. Continuous Improvement
We regularly audit our moderation tools, community guidelines, and reporting mechanisms to ensure they meet the evolving challenges of digital safety. Youth Connect collaborates with child safety experts and organizations to stay at the forefront of protection standards.
